You have to give the airlines credit. They know how to create buzz.
Breeze Airways earlier today announced a “Fab Feb” flash sale, offering $35 one-way Nice fares to all three of its nonstop destinations from Northwest Arkansas National Airport. The tickets must be purchased by midnight.
The one-day sale offers nonstop flights to New Orleans, San Antonio and Tampa for the $35 price. The trip must occur between Jan. 31 and March 16.
A scan of the Breeze Airways website shows the most $35 flights are available on flights to San Antonio next month, but there’s good access to the $35 fare to all three destinations.
The promotion at XNA is part of a nationwide one-day sale launched this morning by Breeze.
Breeze Airways arrived at XNA in June last year, and it faces stiff competition for the airport’s leisure travelers. The airport saw Breeze bring its three new destinations, but there were expansions by competitors, too.
Allegiant Air, for example, added nonstop flights in 2021 to Houston Hobby, Punta Gorda, Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg/Clearwater and Austin.
Frontier Airlines, the airport’s third low-cost carrier, started service at XNA in 2019 with three-times-a-week flights to Denver. In 2021, it added nonstop flights to Las Vegas and Orlando, creating direct competition with Allegiant, which has flights to both of those cities.
The announcement of $35 one-way flights by Breeze comes on the heels of a recent announcement that it would offer first-class seating on flights to Tampa, starting in May. Those first-class seats on the airline’s new Airbus A220, which Breeze calls “Nicest,” initially sold at an introductory fare of $99 each way, but that sale has ended.
The first-class seats remain affordable at less than $175 each way on many of the flights to Tampa. That price includes two checked bags and one carry-on bag.
