Northwest Arkansas National Airport reached a new milestone last month, setting an all-time record for passenger traffic.
Airport officials announced that 125,189 travelers boarded outbound flights in June, the highest monthly number in the airport’s nearly 27 years.
The record-breaking figure reflects a 15% increase over June 2024, and it marks the first time the airport has surpassed the 125,000-passenger threshold in a single month. The previous best month was May 2025 with 117,821.
The increase in passenger volume comes amid new routes and added capacity at XNA. For example, Delta Air Lines started flying daily to Salt Lake City in February. In May, Allegiant Air added a twice-a-week flight to Gulf Shores, Ala., and Breeze Airways on Sept. 4 starts a twice-a-week flight from XNA to Pensacola, Fla.
June’s big passenger numbers at XNA were boosted by the Walmart shareholders’ celebrations that occurred in the early part of the month. The event draws in people from across the nation.
While it’s possible that July could outperform June just as it did in 2024, early indications suggest that it won’t. One big hint is that the number of people passing through the airport’s Transportation Security Administration checkpoint as of mid-July was far below the mid-June amount.
