The Northwest Arkansas National Airport broke yet another record last month, boarding its highest number of November passengers.
The airport, which was renamed on Wednesday by the airport authority, released its November passenger numbers showing 76,199 people took off from XNA during the month.
The strong November passenger numbers at XNA can be tied to the additional service added since last year.
The airport continues to pile up new records for passengers, experiencing the busiest month in its 21 years in June – when 91,305 people boarded XNA flights.
XNA’s enplanements through the year’s first 11 months are 16.2% higher than 2018. These 844,849 passengers already exceed the number of people who boarded flights in all of 2018 (788,261).
The 16.2% growth puts the airport on pace for 916,000 passengers by year’s end.
Air service expansions have made such rapid growth possible this year.
Examples of those expansions are Frontier Airlines starting service to Denver followed by the American Airlines addition of the daily nonstop flight to Philadelphia, beginning in September.
The newest service arrived in November when Allegiant Air took off for the Phoenix-Mesa airport. This flight is available to the Arizona airport every Sunday and Thursday. Allegiant also offered seasonal air service to Nashville this year and plans to resume that service in February.
