Fans wanting to attend University of Arkansas football games are among the biggest winners in Wednesday’s announcement by United Airlines.

Four of the 28 United flights to destinations based on the college football schedule involve the Razorbacks. Three of those games are being played in Fayetteville.

The United announcement puts Northwest Arkansas National Airport in the odd position of having United, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines offering nonstop service from Austin for exactly one November weekend. All three airlines will disband the temporary routes a day after the Arkansas-Texas game in Fayetteville on Nov. 15.

Both Delta Air Lines and United have nonstop flights scheduled from Knoxville to XNA for the Tennessee-Arkansas matchup in Fayetteville on Oct. 5. Google Flights showed a roundtrip that leaves Knoxville on Oct. 4 and returns to the city on Oct. 6 goes for $710 on United. Delta wants far more: $1,475 roundtrip.

LSU fans can fly United nonstop from Baton Route to XNA to attend the team’s game in Fayetteville on Oct. 19. Leaving on Oct. 18 and returning to Baton Rouge on Oct. 20 was selling on Google Flights for $769.

Arkansas fans, meanwhile, get a new airline option if they want to take United to DFW for the team’s Sept. 28 game in Arlington against Texas A&M.

That XNA-DFW route is already packed with American Airlines nonstops. The airline flies it eight to 10 times a day.

Delta announced its plan to offer 56 nonstop flights based on the college football schedule in July.
